Brachauchenius was a genus of short-necked pliosaur that lived during the Turonian Stage of the Late Cretaceous. It represents the last know occurrence of a pliosaur in North America.

Discovered in 1903, Brachauchenius lucasi is the only pliosaur recognized from Kansas at this time in history. This pliosaur has been found in the Greenhorn Limestone Formation and the Charlie Shale, both in Kansas. Brachauchenius, in life, would have measured 10 meters (30 feet) in length. It had a mandible (lower jaw) that measured 170 cm (68 in) long.

Brachauchenius lived in the Western Interior Sea, a sea that coved much of the United States. It would have been an active predator, feeding on fish, squid, and other marine reptiles.
